1916 Rising

2016 sees the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising and we are commemorating it through music at The Irish Folk Experience: Centenary Special.

This is a unique interactive music event that highlights the important role of music and the arts in the rising.
The folk songs that inspired the volunteers in the years leading up to 1916 will be mixed with works from the rebel leaders themselves. Poems and songs written by Pearse, Plunkett, MacDonagh as well as other members of the volunteers are presented side by side with the important speeches, letters and articles of the time.
This unique event includes a 1916 songbook for everybody to join in and sing along with the songs of the rebellion.
